Filming with CNN's Great Big Story

What an awesome weekend with Andy and John, film producers of CNN's Great Big Story.  They arrived on Thursday (May 12) in our neck of the woods around 11:30pm.  A couple of hours late due to the airport delays.  We had a few folks stay late and meet the crew.  We apreciated their patience.  After some quick introductions and equipment setup, it was time to start shooting.

We had lights in the observatory used for filming.

We finished the first shoot at about 5am.  I shared with them the night sky as well as what Deep Sky Eye was all about.  They were amazed at the skies here in Quinan.

Friday was the sleep-in day.  I was up and about around 11am.  They didn't get up until 2pm.  They were quite exhausted after the plane trip and the all nighter.  We resumed filming at the house around 4:30pm.

After the shoot around 9pm we visited my brother Steve and his girfriend Lila.  They we kind enough to make us a late fish supper.  Thank you!

We knew the crew was starting to feel quite exhausted.   At one point, they forgot to close the back of the car and lost a few pieces of luggage.   Thanks Dad for picking them up :)

Had a bit of rain Friday night.  The filming must go on!   We finished this segment around midnight.

Saturday morning would be an early morning shoot about 9:00am, a quick family gathering and few more pictures.

Off to Yarmouth for more filming downtown and a bite to eat at Sip Cafe

One more quick stop for some scenes from the Yarmouth Harbour, mist and fog on the water.

Although I've done lots of interviews, this was a very different experience and took a lot longer as it's more of a professional film.  Andy and John were awesome to work with and we had a lot fun.     I can't wait to see how they take 3 days of filming and jam it into 3 minutes!

We will keep you posted as to when it will be available online.
